National Youth Traffic Safety Month

Every May youth from across the country engage in peer to peer education efforts to address the #1 cause of death for youth in the U.S. – traffic crashes. According to NHTSA data eight out of the ten deadliest days for youth on our nation’s highways are between May and August with May 20th averaging as the deadliest day. During National Youth Traffic Safety Month, the Decade of Action for Road Safety will be officially launched on Wednesday, May 11, 2011. A truly global event, national and local launches in every time zone of the world will combine with one message: it is Time for Action. You can plan or join national or local events in your community.
